Sevier County celebrates World Day of Prayer 2005

Church Women United, represented by several Sevier County churches, will meet Friday to celebrate World Day of Prayer 2005. “Let our Light Shine” is the theme this year with the country of Poland featured. Joan Saas, a local Seymour resident of Polish descent, will be the keynote speaker. Saas visited family in Poland five years ago, and will be give an informative talk, sharing her experiences in the country, and explaining many of their customs.
Prayers and responsive readings written by the Christian women in Poland, will be featured during the 10:00 a.m. service at the Sevierville First Presbyterian Church. Music will be performed by Linda Everett. Candles will be lit as part of the celebration. Joining the First Presbyterian Church members will be the First Methodist of Sevierville and the Pigeon Forge Methodist Church. A coffee hour will be held after the service.
