B97.5 radio personality TK Townshend and morning co-host Kristen Hammond will “cook up” breakfast for Knoxville on March 12 to benefit Children’s Hospital at the 10th anniversary of B97.5’s TK’s Breakfast event.
This year’s TK’s Breakfast will take place in the Knoxville Convention Center Ballroom on Saturday, March 12, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. with a bountiful breakfast, a variety of children’s activities, silent and live auctions, and great entertainment. Breakfast will include eggs, bacon, sausage, O’Charley’s Belgian waffles, biscuits, cereal, fresh fruits, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and much more.
TK’s Breakfast has a great entertainment lineup planned. Performers will include pianist Jim Brickman and vocalist Anne Cochran, recording artist and Knoxville native Jordan Hill and musical group All 4 One.
An award honoring James A. “Jim” Haslam II, the founder and chairman of Pilot Corp., as the “East Tennesssean of the Year” will be presented midway through the breakfast.
“This event has grown tremendously since it began in 1996,” TK said, “because the people of East Tennessee are always generous when it comes to supporting projects that will help kids in this area. Plus, we always have great food and entertainment – it’s just a lot of fun!”
TK and Kristen have selected the new Family Area at Children’s Hospital to raise funds for with the 2005 TK’s Breakfast. This Family Area will provide support and some of the comforts of home to families with children in the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units. The area is designed to help relieve some of the anxiety and frustration of being at the hospital for extended hours and days while a child is being treated.
The Family Area will offer beds where parents and grandparents can rest and a kitchen where they can prepare food, relax and enjoy a meal. A laundry area also will be available for families who are at the hospital for an extended period of time. The Family Area will offer a relaxing atmosphere and a much needed “escape” from the hospital setting for families who have sick children at Children’s Hospital.
Last year’s TK’s Breakfast raised more than $11,500 toward the purchase of portable ventilator units for Children’s Hospital Home Health Care. Since the event began in 1996, TK’s Breakfast has raised over $200,000 for Children’s Hospital.
Tickets for guests ages 11 and up will be $10; children ages 10 and younger are admitted free. The breakfast is sponsored by B97.5-FM, Charter Media, Comcast, Goody’s and local O’Charley’s restaurants.
