Pigeon Forge public hearings held

Things are changing rapidly in Pigeon Forge. Ralph Chance, Mayor of Pigeon Forge, displaying leadership skills, led the commissioners rapidly through a long list of Ordinances that were before the group for consideration. The Commissioners were cordial and to the point, verifying throughout the approval process, that many issues regarding the ordinances had been thoroughly discussed in previous Planning Commission meetings.
Ordinance Number 751- an ordinance to amend the Pigeon Forge Municipal Code by revising the standard for stair-step treads and rises.
Ordinance Number 753- an ordinance to amend the zoning map of Pigeon Forge, by rezoning certain property located along Middle Creek Road (adjacent to Dollywood) owned by Elwin Horne, from R-1 (Low Density Residential) to C-2 (Tourist Commercial)- first reading.
Ordinance Number 754- an ordinance to amend the zoning map of Pigeon Forge, by rezoning certain property located at 212 Dollywood Lane, owned by Michael Shular, from R-2 (High Density Residential) to C-2 (Tourist Commercial)-first reading.
Ordinance Number 755- an ordinance to amend the zoning map of Pigeon Forge by rezoning certain property located at 2156 Parkway, 2162 Parkway, and 2174 Parkway, owned by Collier Development Company, from C-4 (Planned Unit-Commercial) and R-1 (Low Density Residential) to C-2(Tourist Commercial)-first reading.
Ordinance Number 756- an ordinance to amend the text of the zoning ordinance of Pigeon Forge, by amending Section 801, “Area, Yard, and Height Requirements”-first reading. Approved height will be to 85 feet instead of 80 feet.
Ordinance Number 757- an ordinance to annex certain property located near McMahan Hollow Road into the corporate limits of Pigeon Forge, said property being owned by the Fairway Development Group- first reading. This is a 43 acre piece of land that is part of a larger development.
Ordinance Number 758- an ordinance to close a portion of Oldham Drive- first reading. Bill Maples said that he thought it is only fair that the individuals that have said that they have contacted the various neighbors, should bring some type of verification, so that the city will know that they are indeed aware of what is occurring here.
Ordinance Number 759- an ordinance to close a portion of Parlin Drive- first reading. Bill Maples said that he wanted proof of contact for these neighbors also.
Resolution Number 694- a resolution calling a public hearing to determine whether certain property known as the Fairway Development Group Property near McMahan Hollow Road (43 acres) should be annexed into the City of Pigeon Forge.
Earlene Teaster, Pigeon Forge City Manger, announced several upcoming events of interest to area residents.
Arbor Day, Tuesday, March 10 at Pigeon Forge High School. Trees given to students by the State of Tennessee in the Auditorium at 10:00 a.m.
Totally Tourism, Friday, March 11, at the Music Road Hotel from 8 a.m. until noon.
Lifestar Facilities Dedication, Friday, March 4, at noon at the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg Airport.
Keep Sevier Beautiful, Wednesday, March 16, from 11:30-1 p.m. at the Sevier County Courthouse.
