Three named as best of the best It was a tough competition, but the judging has been completed and from the winners of the building level teacher of the year competition, arose three county winners. Last week, each public school in the county submitted their individual teacher of the year for their building. From that, three winners were selected as system champions. Sally Tate, from Pigeon Forge High School, Marti Cantrell from Pittman Center Elementary and Lou Ann Walker from Sevierville Primary School will represent Sevier County at the district, and possibly, state level competition. These teachers were chosen from among many applicants by a panel of professional colleagues. The last teacher from Sevier County who gained the title of state teacher of the year was Edna Loveday, a kindergarten teacher from Sevierville Primary. The date was 1989.
