Mayor introduces new employees The City of Sevierville held it’s bi-monthly Mayor and Alderman meeting Monday evening, December 20. During the meeting several new employees were introduced, including Jim Yost and Victor Rodriquez, both Maintenance Worker I, of the Parks and Recreation Dept.; Jackie Nickel, Attendant-spares &I Strikes Café, of the Parks and Recreation Dept.; and Steven Coker, John French, and Andy Johnson, all of the Fire Dept. The Mayor and aldermen considered the following business: · An ordinance to amend the text of the Sevierville Zoning Ordinance, concerning requirements on the Spacing and Configuration of Driveways was passed at the 1st reading. The proposed ordinance originally required all new driveways to be paved, but alderman Claude Ownby objected to that portion of the proposal, saying it was unfair to require residential property owners whose property is set off from the road to fully pave the driveway. The new proposal will require new residential property owners to pave at least the first 100 feet of the driveway. The board also added that those driveways must provide a means to drain or divert water. · An ordinance to Amend the Sevierville Zoning Map, as set forth in the Sevierville Municipal Code, Section 14-201 (to rezone properties on Ridge Road and Park Road from R-3 to C-2) was passed on the 3rd reading. · The City Council Meetings and workshop dates were changed to the 2nd and 4th Mondays in January due to Martin Luther King’s birthday being a public holiday. · An Ordinance to Amend the Zoning Map of the City of Sevierville, as set forth in the Sevierville Municipal Code, Section 14-201 (to rezone the following property which consists of Parcels 75 and 76 on Sevier County Property Map 61, from M-1 and C-3 to C-5) –0-2004-030 was passed on the 1st reading. · An approval and/or ratification of expenses in excess of $2,500 was passed. · Consideration of the purchase of fuel for the city fleet was deferred until the next meeting on January 10, 2005. At that time there will be workshops on the agenda, which will be discussed later that night at the scheduled 7:00 p.m. meeting. The Mayor of Sevierville, Brian Atchley, wished everyone a Merry Christmas!
