Child missing in Pennsylvania
As of late Monday afternoon, a nine-year-old Pennsylvania boy was still missing. According to reports Logan Mitcheltree has limited ability to speak and has mental disabilities.
The boy was last seen with by his family and was watching television with his siblings late Saturday when he disappeared.
Officials are hoping the boy found refuge somewhere warm in the bitter cold. They are urging people in the area to please search their property for the boy. Hundreds of volunteers have been searching since the boy disappeared in the South Williamsport area.
Mitcheltree was wearing nothing when he disappeared except a long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and slippers.
Young Buck charged in stabbing
Rapper Young Buck, from Nashville was charged Monday in the stabbing of another man during the taping of the Vibe Awards in Los Angeles.
Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown is charged with assault with a deadly weapon in Los Angeles. The charge stems from a melee during the taping of the awards after another man punched Brown’s mentor Doctor Dre.
The brawl set off a chair-throwing melee through the crowd. Brown surrendered to police on November 19, and faces up to eight years in prison.
Illinois gives up free book plan
State officials in Illinois have dropped plans to partner with a Tennessee foundation to offer free, age-appropriate books to Illinois children younger than five.
According to reports the program would have cost the state $26 million per year if all eligible children signed up for monthly meetings. The first year projections for the state were $5 million for the children that were enrolled.
The Dollywood Foundation, based in Pigeon Forge, and started by Dolly Parton, coordinates the Imagination Libraries program.
According to the report the Illinois legislature had missed a deadline for funding, but some lawmakers said elected officials did not push the program very hard.
Motorcycle gang leader sentenced to life
A violent motorcycle gang leader has been sentenced to life in prison for running a drug ring. Frank Wheeler was among 12 leaders of the gang “The Outlaws” gang convicted on federal drug charges.
According to authorities, Wheeler and his gang sold cocaine, marijuana and LSD throughout the Midwest. He is already serving nearly 17 years for racketeering and other crimes.
The Outlaw’s are one of the nations four largest biker gangs and have chapters in Canada, Europe and Australia.
Lottery winner’s granddaughter found dead
The teenage granddaughter of the richest lottery winner in history has been found dead in West Virginia.
Powerball winner Jack Wittaker reported his 17-year-old granddaughter, Brandi Bragg missing on December 9, she was last seen at the home of a friend on December 4. She was found in the woods on Monday.
Wittaker won the Powerball jackpot worth nearly $315 million in 2002. The death is currently under investigation.
Smallest baby in the nation ready to go home
She was the smallest baby born in the U.S., now she’s almost ready to go home. According to reports the girl weighed 8.6 ounces when she was born on September 19 at Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois. She will be introduced into the world on Tuesday and she is should be ready to go home in January according to doctors.
The girl’s twin was born at one-pound four ounces and she should be ready to go home before the end of the month.
The girls were born at 25 weeks, six days after their mother developed high blood pressure.
