Two flown by LIFESTAR to UT Medical after accident

The Sevierville Police and Fire Departments responded to a two-vehicleaccident at about 11:10AM Friday, December 17, 2004, on Dolly Parton Parkway(DPP) in front of the Food City store. According to SPD Officer Steve Ford, it appeared that a Mitsubishi Eclipse,traveling west on DPP, was attempting to turn left into Food City when itcollided with a 1992 Pontiac Grand Am that was traveling east on DPP. Thecollision caused the Grand Am to leave the road and go into a ditch, comingto rest on the driver’s side. The driver of the Grand Am, 72-year old Bennie Moore, and a passenger,2-year old Erica Moore, were both flown to the University of TennesseeMedical Center by Lifestar air ambulance. The driver of the Eclipse, 23-yearold Tasha Smith, was apparently uninjured. The victims in the Grand Am were extricated from the vehicle by theSevierville Fire Department. The Sevier County Ambulance Service alsoresponded.
