McMillan selected to fill 19th Judicial District Chancery Court position   Governor Phil Bredesen has named Montgomery County attorney Laurence M. McMillan, Jr., to the 19th Judicial District’s Chancery Court. McMillan will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Chancellor Carla Ann Catalano.  “Larry McMillan has a broad range of experience working in the Montgomery and Robertson County court system. Through his 17 years of practice, he has demonstrated that he has the experience and skill to serve as Chancellor in the 19th Judicial District,” Bredesen said. “I congratulate him on this step in his career and appreciate his service to the state of Tennessee.”  McMillan, a sixth generation native of Clarksville, has practiced law for 17 years. Since 1998, he has worked in private practice at McMillan and McMillan, PLLC, in Clarksville. From 1992 to 1998, he practiced law at Cunningham, Mitchell, Hicks & McMillan, and from 1987 to 1992, worked at Barnett and Alagia. His practice has concentrated primarily in plaintiff’s personal injury, criminal defense, business litigation, real estate, domestic relations and commercial transaction law.  “I appreciate the confidence the Governor has shown in appointing me and I look forward to serving the citizens of the 19th Judicial District as the new chancellor,” said McMillan.  McMillan, 44, holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Tennessee College of Law. He is a member of the Montgomery and Tennessee Bar Associations. He served as president of the Montgomery County Bar Association in 1997. He is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization.
