The Douglas Co-op work center and group home were blessed with an early Christmas Tuesday, December 14, at a luncheon sponsored by the Sevierville Rotary Club. The Rotary Club chose the Co-op to sponsor this Christmas. President Mike Brown said, “The whole club just got together, headed by Sue Dempersmeier, and started giving.” And give they did, inspiring others to do likewise.
The luncheon was packed with generosity as well as people. The Sevier County High School Spanish Class and the Interact Club paid for a large screen television that was given to the work center as a whole.
The Rotary was able to purchase 2 computers, a DVD/VCR Combination Player, a washer and dryer, and a set of towels and sheets for each member of the group home.
Kroger’s donated food baskets to be given out.
The Smoky Mountain Youth Orchestra provided music at the luncheon, an after-school program sponsored by Walters State Community College.
