City parks and recreation enlist Chamber of Commerce to help
The City of Sevierville Parks and Recreation board met and discussed some strategic marketing for the Sevierville City Park system. The spring brings baseball teams to Sevierville to play in the beautiful facilities the city owns. Along with those players come may fans, and the city wants to attract them to stay and play in Sevierville.
Sevierville and Pigeon forge sat down with each other and discussed the many charges that organizations are charged by the cities, and how funds are determined for the cities and organizations using the facilities.
After talking with other officials, Sevierville determined they wanted to enlist the help of the Chamber of Commerce. Amanda Maples presented the board with a plan that will help keep the players and their fans in the ballparks and enable them to stay in the city.
Several facts were brought out by board member Bob Parker, “All of the teams that played here last year, stayed in Pigeon Forge,” said Parker. “We need to let them know they can stay right here in our city.”
New board member Connie Keener spoke up also, “My kids have gone to other cities to play in tournaments,” she said. “It’s important that you’re able to stay as close to the field as possible, an hour of driving after the game can be grueling.”
The board discussed new fees and charges for the parks ball fields and rental of the Sevierville Parks. They also discussed how the city could standardize how the city collects for tournaments that are in progress.
Maples presented the board with preliminary plans for getting the word out to potential customers and reiterated how important it is to let customers know about the hotels in the city itself.
The board moved to approve the plan and voted, the measure carried unanimously.
