The Sevierville Sunrise Rotary Club held their annual gift basket Christmas program on December 15. Members gathered around 6:00 p.m. at the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home warehouse and prepared 75 Food/Christmas baskets along with teddy bears provided by the “Teddy Bear lady.” The “Teddy Beat Lady” is an anonymous donor who each year makes teddy bears to be placed in the Rotary Clubs baskets. “No one knows who she is except one member of the rotary,” stated member Jack Cook. “The baskets were delivered on the morning of the 16th to needy families in Sevier County. “We’ve been doing this for eleven years,” stated Cook. “This is my fifth year doing it.” According to Cook, Mr. Randy Parton and Mr. Billy Seagel have headed up the program since its inception and do a tremendous job every year in screening applicants for the baskets.
