The Kailee Elizabeth Taylor Seat Belt Check

published: September 05 2003 12:00 AM updated:: September 05 2003 12:00 AM
The Kailee Elizabeth Taylor Seat Belt Check will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Saturday September 13, in the parking lot of Seymour Business Park on Hwy. 411 just beyond the Cherokee Hills subdivision. It is free to residents of Sevier County and the Seymour area, and anyone who would like to check the installation of their vehicle child seats. Lt. Jessie Brooks of the Safety Education Division of the Tennessee Highway Patrol will be on hand to demonstrate the proper techniques for belting in infant seats, child seats and booster seats. Lt. Brooks will be available to inspect your child safety seat and assure that it is properly installed and secured for the safety of your children. Donations to the Sevier County United Way, an organization that helps families in Sevier County, will also be accepted during the event. Kailee Elizabeth Taylor, a Seymour resident, was eight-months old when she was killed along with her mother Kristin Elizabeth Gibson, 20, also of Seymour, in a traffic accident in July. Kailee was restrained in an infant seat at the time of the accident. This event, which is being named in her honor, is intended to show community support for the family’s tragic loss and to develop a program that will benefit the children of the area and their parents in the event of a similar accident.
