Spring into action with camps

4-H Connections
The recent warm weather reminds us that summer will be here beforeyou know it. With summer, comes opportunities for young people to participate in 4-H Camp. No matter what the age, Sevier County has a camp planned just for you this summer.
Applications can be obtained at the Sevier County 4-H Office, Room 102E, Sevier County Courthouse. Phone 453-3695 for details on these camps. Camp opportunities are open to all Sevier County 4-H members regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, disability or veteran status.
• Junior 4-H Camp (June 9-13) - Clyde Austin 4-H Center, Greeneville, TN; grades 4-6; $140.00 overnight camp; campfires, sports, crafts, swimming, fishing and canoeing, etc.
• Bicycle Camp (June 16-17) - Pigeon Forge Middle School, Pigeon Forge, TN; grades 5th - 8th; $20.00; 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. each day; learn bike safety, maintenance and riding skills; includes group ride and picnic on local greenway.
• 4-H Computer Technology Camp (June 16-19) - Pigeon Forge Middle School, Pigeon Forge, Tn; grades 7th - 12th; $25.00; 9:00 a.m.- Noon each day; learn hands on computer skills, power point presentations, digital photography skills, technology job shadowing and service learning project.
• 4-H Electric Camp (June 23 - 27) - University of Tennessee, Knoxville; grades 6th - 7th; $110.00; overnight camp exploring the world of electricity in hands-on centers, electric motors, vehicles, robotics and safety. Registrations deadline is May 1.
• Sewing Workshop (June 23-26) - Sevier County Vocational Center; grades 5th - 8th; cost TBA; 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. each day; learn basic sewing construction skills.
• Junior Chef Camp (July 7-9) - Walters State Community College, Sevierville, TN; grades 5th - 12th; $40.00; 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. each day; practice hands-on cooking techniques, learn about food careers; learn importance of nutrition and fitness.
• Babysitting Workshop (July 10-11) - Sevier County Courthouse, Sevierville, TN; grades 6th - 8th; $10.00; 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; learn valuable basic babysitting skills.
• Junior High Camp (July 21 - 25) - Clyde Austin 4-H Camp, Greeneville, TN; grades 7th - 8th; $140.00; overnight camp; Theme - Solving a Murder Mystery.
• Clothing Festival Camp (July 29 - 31) - TN Wesleyan College, Athens, TN; grades 7th - 12th; $50.00; overnight camp; hands on sewing, modeling, participate in a service learning project.
