Two country music superstars and long-time supporters of America’s military will make concert stops in Pigeon Forge this August. Lee Greenwood and Aaron Tippin will perform during the city’s 4th Annual Celebrate Freedom! an event that pays tribute to our nation’s veterans and heroes. Tippin is scheduled to appear Sunday, Aug. 10 at 2:30 and Greenwood on Monday, Aug. 11 at 4 p.m. Both concerts will take place at Country Tonite Theatre, 129 Showplace Blvd., in Pigeon Forge. Aaron Tippin first hit the charts in 1990 with the title single from his debut album “You’ve Got To Stand For Something.” His 10th album, “Stars And Stripes,” was released in September 2002. In 1990 Tippin traveled to Saudi Arabia to perform for troops during the Gulf War and returned to the Middle East in 2002 to entertain military personnel stationed in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Throughout his career as a successful singer and songwriter, Lee Greenwood’s touring schedule has included performances at military bases and government functions. His signature song “God Bless The U.S.A.” was named the Country Music Association Song of the Year in 1985. The tune took on a new life and saw a ten-fold increase in radio play after the events of Sept. 11, 2001. Concert tickets are $25 plus tax for Aaron Tippin and $22 plus tax for Lee Greenwood. A combination ticket for both performances is available for $45 plus tax. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-792-4308. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Pigeon Forge High School. Numerous activities are scheduled to take place during Celebrate Freedom!, Aug. 9-24. For detailed information, call 865-429-7350.
