Craft show opens in Seymour

This past Thursday, Friday and Saturday local resident Sandra Tanaba opened her craft show at 114 Community Park Dr. just before Seymour Community Park. This was the first show for Tanaba and one that she plans to continue with in the future. The show started out slow with only a couple of vendors but Tanaba says she expects the show to grow as more people become aware of its existence. “We’re looking for new vendors. This first week was slow but people who came by said they would be back and bring their friends,” said Tanaba. One of the vendors was Jim Hindle who specializes in antique and costume jewelry. He also had a big selection of bunny items. “I’m weeding down my collection,” said Hindle. “I have about 170-180 Bunnykins made by Royal Doulton and about 400-500 bunnies in my collection. Hindle said he also purchased over 900 comics, which he plans to bring to future shows. Currently, the craft show will be opened one weekend a month with no set weekend planned each month. “The week may change from month to month,” said Tanaba. The next show is planned to coincide with this year’s Herald Newspapers Seymour 4th of July celebration which will bring many new faces past the show. “I wanted to work part time at my home improvement business and part time at another business. This gives me the opportunity to do that,” said Tanaba. “Also vendors can set up for a percentage of their sales plus advertising so their investment to be here is minimal.” For more information on the craft show you can call 573-4273.
