Cars for kidneys

published: August 31 2003 12:00 AM updated:: August 31 2003 12:00 AM
That old clunker you’ve been wanting to get rid of could help give someone with kidney failure a new lease on life. The National Kidney Foundation of East Tennessee raises money to assist clients and their families by taking donated cars and auctioning them off. “That’s our biggest fund raiser,” Andrea Fuller, NKF’s Education Coordinator for the Knoxville office told The Herald. “The car doesn’t even have to run, just as long as all the parts are in it and there’s a clear title.” They will also accept boats, campers, and lawn mowers. “Anything with a motor that’s drivable,” said Fuller. The fundraiser is ongoing throughout the year. For more information please contact the NKF at (865) 688-5481.
