FBI seeks bank robber

R. Joe Clark, Special Agent in Charge of the Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man responsible for the robbery of Commercial Bank, 7400 Maynardville Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee. A lone white male robbed the bank on Monday, July 21, at approximately 1:30 p.m. The robber entered the bank and verbally indicated to a teller that he was armed with a gun, before lifting his shirt to produce what appeared to be some type of device. Witnesses described the device as a bomb. The robber is described as a white male, approximately 5’6”, slim build, wearing a light colored baseball cap, glasses and flesh colored gloves. He left the bank on foot. Officers with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office initiated a search with dogs, and tracked the robber to an area where he is believed to have been seen in a gray Datsun/ Nissan automobile.
