Friends of the Seymour Library are campaigning to raise the necessary funds to finish their goal of $100,000 towards the new facility at Macon Crossing. Funding from Sevier County has allowed for the construction of around 1800 feet of usable space for the proposed new building, but the library is currently using twice that amount in the space it occupies now.
The Friends’ campaign includes a drive to solicit funds from inclined contributors towards completing the project. Various donor recognition levels are indicated based on the amount given.
Naming rights for the library itself may be purchased for a gift of $50,000. Naming rights for the proposed 570 square foot meeting room may be purchased for $170 per square foot, and the 130 square foot children’s room at the same rate.
The new library will be a strong asset for the community, a focal point for activities, and a major contributor to the quality of life for Seymour residents.
Fund raising events to be held in the near future by The Friends are “Tea with a Friend” to be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 26, a Genealogy Workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 2, and a Family Fun Day and Silent Auction from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. August 9 to be held at the new library site.
For more information on these events or to make a contribution to the Friends, call Cynthia Green at 577-6569.
