Not a good day for driving

Within hours of each other two separate accidents occurred on Chapman Hwy. Friday, July 11th.
The first accident occurred at the intersection of Chapman Hwy. and Boyds Creek Rd at approximately 11:50 a.m. A red Honda Passport was headed south bound on Chapman Hwy. when it turned left onto Boyds Creek Rd. A green Chevy pickup truck heading north bound on Chapman Hwy. collided with the Honda. Both drivers told Sevier County Sheriff’s Officer Selena Ball that they had a green light. There were no apparent injuries. The Sevier County Sheriff’s Department and the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
The second accident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Macon Rd. and Chapman Hwy. a maroon Brick turning north bound from Macon Rd. to Chapman Hwy. ran a red light and continued on. A F150 Ford truck driven by Coby Fugate of Morristown swerved to avoid hitting the car and hit a white Volvo traveling north bound on Chapman Hwy. “The car ran the red light. If I didn’t swerve to miss it I would have ran right into it” said Fugate. The Sevier County Sheriff’s Department and the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. There were no apparent injuries. “I’m not hurt, just a little shaken up,” stated Fugate. Fugate reported that the Buick that caused the accident did not stop.
