With the Seymour Intermediate School’s major fundraiser less than a month away, some parents, including myself, are out asking for donations to add to the schools silent auction. When I asked Bud Counsil, owner of the Seymour Flea Market if he had anything to donate, he replied, “Why don’t you check back with me next week and I’ll talk to the other vendors at the flea market.” The result was astounding.
Here is a listing of the items the flea market vendors donated: Evelyn Fledge and Ernie Fanton of E&E donated a carpet and a handmade baby quilt. Fledge makes custom quilts for special occasions as well as Coca-Cola and UT quilts; Billie’s Odds and Ends donated three floating candles, two key finders, one daily planner and two baby dolls; White Coyote donated two dream catchers (these are really cool); Pappy’s Place donated one daily planner, and a boxed angel plate; James Dinkin donated an Indian statue; Hurst concessions, who by the way has some darn good food and makes an awesome strawberry smoothie, donated five sandwich plates, three bags of boiled peanuts and two funnel cakes – yum!; Karen’s stuff donated some soccer socks, two homemade candles and a 14 inch parrot (It’s ceramic – not the kind you have to clean up after); Bud and Nancy Counsil donated a 10x10 tarp, a lamp, 2 watches, one Allen wrench set, a 3-piece picture set, one car flag, a doll and two felt paintings. Wow! I guess I scored at this business!
The purpose of getting items donated is to raise money to purchase additional playground equipment and technology equipment for the school.
The carnival is May 2nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Seymour Intermediate School at 212 North Pitner Rd. The carnival will include an auction, dinner, flea market, as well as inside and outside games and activities. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The public and area businesses are invited to participate in this major fund-raising event by donating items or services that may be auctioned, such as merchandise, gift certificates, prints, overnight accommodations, passes to shows, etc.
The Seymour Flea Market vendors were more than generous in helping with this year’s fundraiser. “The vendors were glad to help. Anything to help the kids is a good cause,” stated Bud Counsil.
The Seymour Flea Market has been opened since March 1st at their new inside location at 13305 Chapman Hwy. in the old Roger’s Antique Mall which is 4.5 miles South of 411 on Chapman Hwy. Be sure to stop by and see what they have to offer and tell them thanks. They are opened Thursday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
If you have items you can donate to the Seymour Intermediate School’s fundraiser you can contact the school at 609-0030 or you can contact me (Michele) at 577-6609.
Hope to see you there.
