Seymour Primary and High School to hold blood drive

published: September 25 2002 12:00 AM updated:: September 25 2002 12:00 AM
Medic Regional Blood Center is urging area blood donors to “Make a Pledge, Donate Blood” during October and November. The Medic T-shirt for donors features the Pledge of Allegiance on the back. On Tuesday, October 8th people can go to the Seymour Primary School Little Theatre from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. to donate blood. That same day you can go to the Seymour High School Gymnasium from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors of all types are needed, but there is a special need for O positive, O negative and A negative blood types. Besides the Pledge of Allegiance T-shirt, donors also receive a free cholesterol level evaluation (no fasting required), and Medic’s Family blood Coverage. Donors must have positive identification, must be at least 17 years old and weight at least 110 pounds. There is no upper age limit for donating. Individual donations may be used for the donor’s and/or the donor’s families own Medic coverage (see below), as a replacement or as a substitution for someone else’s coverage. Family coverage means that one donation a year to Medic exempts the donor and his/her IRS dependants from paying blood supplier processing fees at any U.S. hospital if transfusion is needed. New members are covered except for pre-existing conditions. For more information, phone (865) 524-3074 or look up the Medic website at www.medicblood.org.
