Local and national businesses prep for College and Career Day at Seymour High

Thirty to forty colleges, universities, businesses and military services are getting set to participate in Seymour High School’s College and Career Day Wednesday, October 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In addition to the large number of colleges and universities that will be in attendance, local businesses with opportunities for new graduates without college experience are being solicited to attend and show what jobs they have available to juniors and seniors. Seymour High School guidance counselor Sarah Houser stated, “We have expanded this year to feature not only colleges and universities, but also all of the military service groups, and vocational opportunities for students who may wish to directly enter the workforce after graduation.” Seymour High School principal Bruce Wilson added, “This event has always been a great activity to raise the students’ awareness of opportunities in the local area, both college and vocational. We hope the event will continue to grow with the addition of more businesses from the local area attending.” A number of businesses in the area that have opportunities for new high school graduates have pledged to attend, but more are currently being sought. Businesses that are interested in being a part of the event and want to show their pride in the development of the Seymour area are encouraged to call Sarah Houser or Bruce Wilson at 577-7040 to discuss details and arrange for facilities. Parents are encouraged to attend the morning event as well, so that they too can help guide students’ choices in the direction of a career.
