Treatments for Aging Skin to be topic at next Women and Wellness Program

When we are young, we often take our skin for granted, however, time eventually has its way with us. After years of not paying attention, we wake up one day and begin to notice wrinkles, sagging, spider veins, red spots, and even hair in places it shouldn’t be. Nothing can prevent the ravages of time, but much can be done to slow down, repair, and even prevent some of the damage that occurs. Rebecca MacKenzie, NP, from Sevier Medical Laser, will discuss skin health and cancer detection and available laser treatments at the next Women and Wellness luncheon. The program will be held on Friday, October 11 from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. in the classrooms at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. A demonstration of the Laser Dermoscope, which evaluates skin lesions for cancer without the need of a biopsy, will be presented. The cost of the program is $5 and participants may pay at the door. Reservations should be made in advance by calling 453-WELL. Women and Wellness is an educational health series for women sponsored by Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. Each month participants hear interesting speakers and learn about the latest in health-related issues while enjoying a catered lunch.
