Seymour Christian teaching students the history of coming holidays

The second and third grade classes at the Seymour Christian Academy are currently working on separate projects that celebrate the upcoming holiday season, but in different ways. The second grade students of Mrs. Pam Williams are learning about the timeline of America and how the American Indians were helpful to the early settlers that came over on the Mayflower. The project consisted of each child in class choosing a different Indian tribe from anywhere in the country. The student then studied their chosen tribe and made a presentation on that particular tribe to the rest of the class. “I wanted to emphasize to the students how important the Indians were to the early settlers,” said Pam Williams. “They’ve done a great job with the project and they were all very interested in the subject.” Mrs. Linda Williams’ third grade class is partaking in “Operation Christmas Child”, a global operation aimed at bringing a better Christmas to children who otherwise wouldn’t have a Christmas. “This is our fourth year of doing it,” said Linda Williams. “It teaches our kids what’s important at Christmas time”. Items are collected from all of the students at the school. They are then wrapped and sent to the headquarters in Sevierville before being sent out across the world. The items range from a bar of soap to bears to bouncing balls. Each box is separated into different age groups and labeled to be delivered to either a boy or a girl.
