MARY ELIZABETH
HICKMAN DANCE
Mary Elizabeth “Petie” Hickman Dance, 45, of Kodak died Monday, May 20, 2002.
She was a member of Kodak United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Wayne Dance of Kodak; children, Courtney Paige of Kodak, Bradley Wayne Dance of Knoxville, Olivia Dance Thomas and husband Lance of Seymour; four grandchildren; parents, Jimmy and Estella Mount Hickman of Kodak; sisters, Brenda Hickman Livesay and husband Ernest of Morristown, Patricia Pearl Hickman of Kodak and nieces and nephews.
Service was last Thursday at Kodak United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ty Harrison and the Rev. Eric Reiger officiating. Interment was 11 a.m. Friday at Henry’s Crossroads Cemetery.
Rawlings Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
ALVERTA WHALEY KING
Alverta Whaley King, 99, of Knoxville died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Sevier County Health Care.
She was a member of Church Street Methodist Church. She retired after 43 years of teaching in the Knox and Sevier County school systems.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Her parents were Sandridge M. and Alazania Ogle Whaley.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Barbara King of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Imogene “Jean” Layman and Burnice King; granddaughters, Kathy and husband Keith Martin of Roanoke, Va., and Laura and husband Grant Duncan of Woodstock, Md.; four great-grandchildren; and four nephews.
Funeral service was last Friday at Berry Chapel with the Rev. William J. Fowler and the Rev. Cable Trent officiating.
KENNETH L. JACKSON
Kenneth L. Jackson, 70, of Sevierville, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center.He was a Korean War veteran for the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Bess Jackson; children, Penny Thrash and husband David, Gina Davis and husband Jim, Edward K. Jackson and wife Stephanie; stepchildren, Dan Ogle and wife Carol, Patti Smith and Paul Trentham; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; father-in-law, Oliver Ogle.
Funeral service was last Thursday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Ogle officiating. Interment was 10 a.m. Friday in Cartertown Cemetery.
The family is asking memorials take the form of contributions to Thompson Cancer Survival Center, 915 White Ave., Knoxville, TN 37916.
MARY FRANCES DAVIDSON
Mary Frances Davidson, 97, died May 15, 2002, at Sevier County Health Care Center.
After retiring from teaching in the Oak Ridge school system, she became a resident of Gatlinburg. She taught at Arrowmont, was the author of The Dye Pot and a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild.
Her parents were Charles P. and Bessie May Davidson. She was also preceded in death by two sisters.
She is survived by her nieces, Nancy Cooper Tabor of Charlotte, N.C., Mary Lynn Cooper Felsburg of Columbia, S.C., her nephew, Morris Davidson Cooper of Springfield, Ill., several great nephews and niece, and friends.
The memorial service was last Friday at Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church. The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to the Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church, 237 Reagan Drive, Gatlinburg, TN, 37738.
Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville, is in charge of arrangements.
ZELLA MAE BRYANT
Zella Mae Bryant, age 76 of Townsend died Friday, May 24, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by: husband, Elmer Bryant; daughter, Mary June Bryant; mother, Lula Caldwell. Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Pete and Carol Bryant of Lenoir City, John Dewey and Fay Bryant of Maryville, Kenneth and Nancy Bryant of Townsend, Ejhugh and Dianne Bryant of Townsend, Jack and Faye Bryant of Townsend, Roy and Betty Bryant of Townsend; son, Terry Bryant of Townsend; daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Jack Moss of Townsend, Brenda and Butch Russell of Townsend; daughter, Lula “Tinker” Bryant of Townsend; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services were, Monday, May 27, 2002 in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary.
