For the first time in nearly three years Knoxville, TN. will host a toy show. This show will be held June 1-2 and will be one of the largest in Tennessee, with over 400 tables of toys, comics, dolls, trains, TV/movie memorabilia & much more. In addition to being a toy show Adventure Con will also have appearances by six celebrity guests, hourly door prizes, costume contest, a Q&A session with the celebrities and in general a weekend of fun. If you have ever had a question about comic art, Star Wars, the Batman TV series or costuming, then we invite you to sit in on one of our many informative panels. There will be no charge to sit in on any of the numerous panels and they will be presented through out the weekend. Have you been hunting for that elusive toy, comic or doll to complete your collection? If so you might very well find it & more in our exhibitor area where their will be hundreds of tables of collectible toys, comics, dolls, trains, cards, TV/movie memorabilia & much more. Have you ever wanted to see a Stormtrooper, Jedi knight, Michael Myers or Darth Vader in person? This could be your chance as professional and novice costume goers compete in our Saturday afternoon “Costume contest”. Below are the celebrity guests that will be signing autographs at the show. Yvonne Craig: Though world famous as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl from the 1960’s Batman TV series, Ms. Craig also appeared in numerous movies including It Happened at the World’s Fair and Kissin’ Cousins (Both co-staring Elvis Presley). Yvonne Craig also made guest appearances on 60+ TV shows including: Perry Mason, Dr. Kildare, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., My Three Sons, My Favorite Martian, Wild Wild West, Mod Squad, Star Trek, Land of the Giants, Kojak, The Six Million Dollar Man, Starsky & Hutch and Fantasy Island. Last year Ms. Craig’s highly anticipated autobiography: From Ballet to the Batcave and Beyond was released. This will be Yvonne Craig’s first appearance in Tennessee since 1969. Richard Kiel: Mr. Kiel played the part of Jaws in two James Bond classics, The Spy Who Loved Me & Moonraker. Recently Mr. Kiel was voted the #1 James Bond villain of all time, by a BBC poll. Mr. Kiel has made countless TV and movie appearances with his latest being Happy Gilmore with Adam Sandler. Also, Mr. Kiel appeared in Young Daniel Boone, which was filmed in Gatlinburg. Dick Durock: Mr. Durock played the part of Swamp Thing in both Swamp Thing & Return of Swamp Thing, and also the Swamp Thing TV series. In addition to this Mr. Durock was also John Wayne’s stunt double. Among Mr. Durock’s co-stars are Tom Selleck, Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds, Kevin Costner, Adrienne Barbeau, Heather Locklear, Louis Jordan and Richard Dreyfus. Mr. Durock’s TV and movie appearances include: Buck Rogers, Beverly Hillbillies, Battle Star Gallatica, Star Trek, Magnum P.I., Fall Guy, Incredible Hulk, Knight rider, Silverado, Any Which Way You Can, Raw Deal, Heat and Stand by Me. Peter Mayhew: British born 7’2” actor Peter Mayhew became famous for his part as Han Solo’s sidekick Chewbacca in the Star Wars trilogy; Star Wars A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Mr. Mayhew is currently working on a new production called Big Foot, the Urban Legend. His other movie appearances include: Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger and The Terror. Dick Warlock: Mr. Warlock was Michael Myers in Halloween II. Also, Mr. Warlock was Kurt Russell’s stunt double for over 20 years. Movies that Mr. Warlock has either worked on or appeared include but are not limited to: Jaws, Green Berets, Childs Play II, Pumpkin head, Abyss, Casino, Firestarter, Spahn ranch, Friday the 13th part five, Escape from New York, The Dead Pool, The Rocketeer, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Herbie Rides Again, Star Trek, The A Team, Six Million Dollar Man and Disney Christmas Special. Julie Newmar: Julie Newmar was Catwoman from 1966-67 on the Batman TV series. Of the three that played Catwoman, Ms. Newmar is widely recognized as the best and most memorable. Also, Ms. Newmar attended Lee Strasberg’s Actor’s studio with Marylyn Monroe. Listed here are some of Ms. Newmar’s most memorable appearances: Melrose Place, F Troop, Beverly Hillbillies, Monkees, Fantasy Island, CHIPS, Star Trek, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Love Boat, Bionic Woman, Bewitched, Get Smart, My living Doll, The Twilight Zone, Marriage-go-round (Tony-Award winning appearance), Mackenna’s Gold, Li’l Abner, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Demetrius & the Gladiators. This will be Ms. Newmar’s first ever Tennessee Convention appearance. Steve Stanley: Creating art professionally since 1982, Steve Stanley continues his career as a freelance artist, traditionally illustrating on the drawing board and more recently combining his style with the addition of digital techniques. Steve’s goals are still the same after nearly 20 years of starving, and that is to study his craft, draw, paint, and try & stay inside the lines. Steve’s first official “Star Trek” work began not long after mailing a mini-portfolio to the Hamilton Collection in January 1996. Hamilton’s art committee received his material and unanimously agreed to hire Steve upon the review of his illustrations. Mr. Stanley has also worked for; DC Comics, Malibu Comics, Time Warner, Kenner Toys, Applause, World Championship Wrestling & NASCAR. In addition, Author Michele Karl will be signing her newest release, “Buying and Selling Celebrity Dolls” along with her other books, “Composition & Wood Dolls and Toys” and “Baby Boomer Dolls”. She is also be on hand to purchase any vintage Barbies, or dolls and toys that people may like to bring and sell.
