Drug arrest made with help of K-9

A Sevierville man is facing multiple counts of drug charges after the 4th Judicial Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant. David Ogle, 55, of Big River Overlook in Sevierville was arrested after Sevierville Police Department’s K-9, Hans, alerted police to what was estimated to be about ten pounds of a substance believed to be marijuana hidden in a closet along with a reported $8,000 worth of pills believed to be OxyContin. Hans’ handler is Sevierville Police Officer Troy Sellars. “We have training with the dogs once a month. They (the dogs) do a great job,” stated Sellars. “We have three dogs that work with us now and Gatlinburg and the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department also have a dog.” In addition to items seized, agents also recovered $5,000 in cash and several other drugs, including pills believed to be Hydrocodone, Valium and Xanax. Hans was credited with finding the marijuana and OxyContin. The arrest followed a yearlong investigation that included help from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s office.
