Congressman Ed Bryant visits Seymour regarding Homeland Security

published: June 19 2002 12:00 AM updated:: June 19 2002 12:00 AM
Recently, President George W. Bush proposed the most significant transformation of our government in over a half-century. The new Department of Homeland Security will have the protection of our homeland as its primary mission. Congressman Bryant came to Seymour to emphasize the need for local security, to support the President in his efforts to combine the departments, to minimize the threat of terrorist attacks and to do a little politicking. State Representative Richard Montgomery, Sheriff Bruce Montgomery, Sevier County Commissioners Beecher Baker and Bill Oakes, Chief of the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department Jerry Clark and others were present at the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department on Ford Hill to hear Congressman Bryant’s views regarding supporting the President’s efforts.
