(Knoxville, TN) A famous family of musical virtuosos is coming to share their music with the crowd at Blue Cats Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 9:30 p.m. Regi Wooten on guitar is known as “The Teacher.” It was Regi’s early instruction that laid the foundation for the family to become the group of masterful musicians that they are. Thanks to Regi’s role as “The Teacher,” many musicians inside and outside of the family have gone on to play with world class artists and play on critically acclaimed recordings. Regi’s youngest brother Victor plays bass for the popular experimental jazz-fusion outfit Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. He has been hailed by many as the best bassist in the world. Regi’s influence has also reached those like Carter Beauford, drummer for Dave Matthews Band, and Kat Dyson, formerly of Prince’s New Power Generation.
Joseph Wooten is the keyboardist/vocalist for the brothers, known as “Hands of Soul.” He has worked with artists like Kenny G, Whitney Houston, and Steve Miller. Joseph also applied his prolific songwriting skills to brother Victor’s Grammy nominated solo albums, Yin-Yang and Live in America. Together, with drummer Marcus Finnie and bassist John Billings, Regi and Joseph lead a high-powered band with roots firmly planted in funk, jazz, soul, and rock n’ roll. Tickets are $10 for advance tickets, and are available at all Tickets Unlimited Outlets. Tickets will be $12 at the door. Call (865) 656-4444 or toll- free at 877-995-9961 for tickets.
