Dogwood Arts is officially in the running to receive a $250,000 Pepsi Refresh Everything grant for a permanent Art in Public Places large-scale sculpture exhibition in Knoxville.
Now that their application has been accepted to fund and install 15 permanent, large-scale, outdoor sculptures in Knoxville, they need residents’ help by voting.
Public daily voting runs through Thursday, September 30.
Voting is simple and voters can vote three different ways – so up to three times a day.
1. Log onto www.refresheverything.com/artinpublicplaces and click “Vote for this idea”
2. Text “102486” to “73774”!
3. Vote on facebook!
Every time someone votes they help decide which 32 ideas will receive a Refresh Everything grant this month.
Art in Public Places is currently a seven-month long exhibit of 35 large-scale, outdoor sculptures located throughout Krutch Park, Gay Street, Volunteer Landing, World's Fair Park, Knoxville Convention Center, the District in Bearden, and McGhee Tyson Airport. The current exhibit closes on October 31.
With this grant, they would be able to install 15 permanent outdoor sculptures which would enliven and beautify the city landscape, contribute to civic pride, and distinguish Knoxville as an art destination city.
Upon being selected to receive the grant, Dogwood Arts will send out a call-to-artists for the 15 sculptures to be placed around Knoxville.
