To benefit over 1300 area youth On Tuesday, October 17, Music Road Hotel and Convention Center will host the 18th Annual Steak and Steak Dinner to benefit the 1300 young people of the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains (BGCSM). The event, which begins at 6:00 p.m., showcases a few of the Club’s talented youth and brings together community leaders with the Club members for an evening of great food and fun. “Jim Caufield is our speaker this year and he is so much fun,” says Eric Bennecker, BGCSM Board President. “We had the chance to see him at the National Convention last May and his stand up routine and commentary on the history of the Boys & Girls Club sure puts things in perspective. I know people will enjoy hearing him speak.” This year’s Steak and Steak Dinner is being made possible by Riverside Towers, Collier Development Group, Alamo Steakhouse, Smoky Mountain Family of Restaurants, Shoney’s, the Old Mill, Park Grill/Peddler Restaurants, Buddy’s BBQ and Coca-Cola. According to Executive Director Mark Ross, “The Steak and Burger Dinner is a signature event for Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the country where the kids eat steak and the adults are served burgers. We decided to take it a step further and make it the Steak and Steak Dinner so everyone could enjoy a fine meal. And we certainly couldn’t do that without all of the sponsors who believe in our kids.” The event is open to the public. For those businesses wishing to promote their business, while providing operating funds for the programs at the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains, it is still possible to sponsor a table. Individual tickets for the dinner are $125 per person and all tickets may be reserved by calling 428-6550.
