Capital Records Nashville executives surprised Trace Adkins at his CMA Music Festival press conference where Herald staffers were and presented him with Gold records for his current album, \"Comin’ On Strong\" and his DVD, \"Trace Adkins: Video Hits\".
“This is getting to be a habit, “ said Mike Dungan, President and CEO of Capitol Records Nashville, as he handed the plaques to Adkins. In the past year, Adkins has earned three Gold record certifications, for his albums Chrome, Greatest Hits Collection, Volume I and Comin’ On Strong. Trace Adkins: Video Hits is Capitol Records Nashville’s first DVD to be certified Gold.
Joel Flatow, Mitch Glazier and John Henkel of the Recording Industry Association of America were also on hand for the presentation. According to the RIAA, out of thousands of album releases each year, only a couple of hundred are certified Gold. Four certifications from one artist in one year is an incredible achievement.
“We’re thrilled to be part of this presentation and to be able to recognize Trace’s amazing achievements. We’re looking forward to seeing Trace again very soon with more plaques in hand,” said Henkel, Director of Artist and Industry Relations.
The presentation was the perfect lead-in to Adkins’ CMA Music Festival performance on Friday, June 11, where the cheering crowd stayed on their feet throughout much of his performance. Adkins also participated in a slew of events throughout the week: coaching the Opry team at the annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball game, answering questions at the CMA Celebrity Close Up lecture series alongside Kix Brooks, signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans in the Convention Center and hosting a party for more than 500 of his fan club members.
“Rough and Ready,” is the follow-up single to Adkins’ Top 5 hit, “Hot Mama,” and critics are already calling it his next big hit.
