November 2nd is our day. A day that countless have given their lives so that we can go to the polls and without bloodshed elect our chosen leaders.
The key is to get to the voting booth and then having enough knowledge about the candidates so that you can make a logical choice, rather than an emotional one.
I would say that most people choose their candidates based upon name recognition rather than substance.
Take for example our current president.
What experience does he have to run the government, or as most would say, the world?
So many voted for him based upon his personality and not on his character or experience.
The national media for one reason or another touted him as the greatest thing since sliced bread.
As it turns out, the president has lost most of the media support as well as the public’s support.
That’s what happens when the people choose based on name recognition or emotion.
It doesn’t last.
Just think of the strong puppy love you had as a teenager.
You just couldn’t keep your hands off of your love.
That didn’t last either. Why? Because it was based on emotion, hormones and some other things.
The key is, we need to be rational about who we choose.
And if you’re going to re-election someone, make sure that that public servant has lived up to their oath of office.
Many get discouraged from even voting anymore because they vote people into office only to find out that nothing has changed. Or if it has, it’s now worse than ever.
The key is to vote vote and keep voting and encouraging everyone else to vote because, short of a hostile takeover, that’s the only hope we have of getting it right.
Just like an accidents, unless they involve a family member or close friend, it doesn’t really matter. Just give me the details, and then on with another day.
Same with elections. Every person elected into office, you should consider like a family member or close friend because they can and do effect your everyday life.
So as I said, this is it. November 2nd is our day. Go seize it. And never let it get away!
