It is great to take a little trip, even a vacation, but it’s always great to get home.
Home is where the heart is and everything you own and love. That’s where we surround ourselves with people and things that make us happy, most of the time.
I say most of the time, because nothing or no one is perfect, although we like to think some things are.
The truth is it’s in the eyes of the beholder.
How we look at things, people and situations will in most cases determine the degree to which we become infatuated with whatever we are focusing on at the time.
We are less than a month away from making a decision that will affect our community for at least the next four years.
The question is how much do we really care about the future.
It probably all depends on if we feel our actions have any effect on the outcome of the future.
In other words – does our vote really count?
Let me ask you this simple question – if it didn’t would the candidates spend so much money, time and energy enticing you to vote?
Simple question with an equally simple answer. A huge YES – your vote does count.
But many of us have been lulled into believing not only doesn’t our vote count, but it makes no difference who gets elected because they all talk the talk, but forget to walk the walk.
Let me ask another simple question – if anyone else had gotten into the office of the President, would they have spent over $1,000,000.00 trying to keep their birth certificate a secret? Again very simple – of course not.
So don’t ever let anyone tell you that your vote doesn’t count.
And no matter how much you don’t want to leave your home sweet home next Thursday on the 15, it would do you and the county plenty of good to attend a barbeque at the Seymour Primary School to hear what our local candidates have to say about their qualifications and why they would be the best choice for the office they seek.
Voting is both a privilege and honor. Many would say it’s an obligation.
And if for some reason you can’t make the event at the Primary School – I am having a Meet and Greet on Sunday afternoon the 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the corner of Boyd's Creek and N. Pitner. A large tent will be erected. Come have some food and drinks and hit me with your best questions. I’d love to see you there.
Home sweet home will still be there and you’ll be able to make a better informed decision whether I would represent the Seymour community in a manner that would make you proud you decided to support me with your vote as your 6th District Sevier County Commissioner.
