the recession is over

According to the government, the recession affecting our country is over.
According to the unemployed and various markets, other than the stock market, it’s not over.
What about our community?
The churches are stretched and so are the food banks as well as the homeless shelters.
Individuals are still losing their jobs and homes to some degree.
The stock market has been on the incline for several months.
That’s a good sign right?
It all depends on who you listen to.
At least a couple of years ago and or many months, the national media told us that we are headed for a recession.
Nobody believed them because the public didn’t see any indications of that.
Then, the reality set in and we were in a near meltdown.
Thank goodness we are starting to get good positive news on a daily basis.
The only hindrance is that it could take a considerable amount of time before we, as a community, feel the effects of a recovery.
Sevier County is based upon the income derived from tourists. The tourists are still coming, just not staying as long or spending as much.
People are still spending money. Just not as much and not as freely.
Everyone is watching their pennies and looking for deals.
And there are deals to be had.
The question is, are you prepared to take advantage of those deals?
Those that are fortunate to have the funds are now jumping out to take advantage of the opportunities.
Not all of us are in such an enviable position so we have to just make do with what we can.
The belt still needs to be tightened, but the sign on the horizon looks good. We need to keep our faith and do whatever it takes to get through this.
