The long standing building and storage units that were next to McDonalds have been dismantled to make way for the construction of a 4,000 square foot building.
The new construction will be the location of the Seymour branch of Sevier Pawn and Loan which is presently located at 10301 Chapman Hwy.
Lora Parton, owner of Sevier Pawn and Loan and the owner of the property next to McDonalds, told the Seymour Herald that all the permits have been acquired and construction should start soon.
"My contractor tells me that we have finally received the last permit and the actual construction should start any day now," stated Parton.
Parton had to building designed so that it will be unique in the way that the building will have a drive-thru. "I want the building to be attractive and versatile enough so that it be adaptable for another type of business without doing major reconstruction.
Parton has been attending several Seymour auctions for the past few years in search of adequate property to purchase for the construction of a building.
Finally when the property was placed for sale, Parton decided it would be the ideal location.
According to county records, Parton paid $725,000.00 for the one acre parcel which at the time contained the free-standing building and two rows of storage units.
Parton's main location is in Sevierville on Dolly Parton Parkey with a second location in Seymour.

Just what we need a pawn shop,a great addition to any community.
good grief...put a nice restaurant in Seymour
Why can't they put anything decent like a nice restaurant in Seymour ?
So...who do you think permits the building of a PAWN SHOP in such close proximity to a CHURCH and highly residential properties? Who do you think doesn't give a flip about what happens in Seymour??? Take a look at your county Seymour 'representation' on the county level. This is just another reason to incorporate Seymour...as soon as possible and take control of our own community.
A great place to fence stolen goods.
If there was no demand for a pawn shop there would be no pawn shop in Seymour. It seems the citizens of Seymour will not support a good restaurant as well as they will a pawn shop. Our local county representative has no authority to stop any business which meets the county code.
Yes, we should incorporate, before Knoxville annexes Seymour.
She can build whatever she wants there. If living close to restaurants was important to you, why didn't you move to west Knoxville?!
Joe... how come you are not allowing my comment I posted it should have been #2.
I stated in my post I was proud of Lora's accomplishments as a woman. She is a very strong business woman in our area. Why was my post not aloud to be printed?
We don't want to live in 'da hood either'...that's why we don't want a Pawn Shop here in Seymour. If you want to live in 'da hood' why don't you pack up and mov e to the inner city...preferably beside a Pawn Shop!
We already have a pawn shop!! It's been here for 3-5 yrs I would guess. She is just going to move it to a new location.
You people in Seymour will complain about ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING! A gas station sell beer? Not in Seymour. Build a park for the kids so they can play outside instead of veg out in front of TVs? Not in Seymour! I bet y'all wouldn't complain about another wal-mart or dollar store though huh? Y'all are so concerned about "more traffic" ruining your community. How about all the sex offenders that live in Seymour? Seems to me like it's already gone to the dogs. HA! Makes me laugh. And yes, I will be keeping myself and my family over here on the other side of the county.
Whoa all we need is another person being disgusted about Seymour. Hummmmm yes stay on your side of the county. Why are you complaining??? Apparently you have nothing else to do but explore what's going on in Seymour!!
So make me laugh some more
We're glad you and your kind will be staying over there. Besides...there's ALREADY A PARK IN SEYMOUR...it's called the Seymour Recreation Center.
Disgusting, you must be a very miserable person. Seems you have nothing better to do than hide out "on the other side of the county". Our concerns about OUR community are just that, OUR CONCERNS. You obviously do not live in Seymour, so why do these matters affect your life so much as to put you in such a rage? This anger you have demonstrated prevents you from forming a complete, coherent and grammatically correct sentence. Your display of your own ignorance is only exaggerated by the lack of tolerance and compassion you have for others. Hope you can get counseling...have a great day!
A pawn shop is already in Seymour. That just shows what kind of folks are moving to Seymour. It seems more citizens in Seymour are living too high off the hog and need a pawn shop to survive. Just look at the foreclosures in this area, and you can see the failure of over spending to keep up with the Jones.
