It's been a long road but after five challenging years, the South Knoxville and Seymour area has the chance to see the next level of premier martial arts training available to our community. Bobby Hargis' TaeKwonDo International Training Center, located at 7333 Chapman Highway, is about to celebrate its five year anniversary in December.
With a total school renovation just completed and four exciting additional training programs added to the school's already expanding class schedule, no wonder this training facility is local parents' number once choice for a "life skill" program for their own children.
Master Bobby Hargis, Fifth Degree Black Belt and recent inductee into the USA's Martial Arts Hall of Fame for Instructor of the Year, opened his business five years ago in the Chapman Plaza shopping center with only two students and a dream of providing the highest quality martial arts training to the South Knoxville and Seymour community.
Five years later, hundreds of students have passed through the training centers doors and South Knoxville's TaeKwonDo International Training Center has a lot of successes to show for itself.
TaeKwonDo International is the FIRST of it's kind in the area to offer a Martial Arts Afterschool Program, or MAAP for short, where free transportation is provided to eight different elementary schools and children are brought back to the training facility located on Chapman Highway across from Wal-Mart.
After homework time, children get a chance to learn the ancient self-defense art of TaeKwonDo as well as life skills like respect, self-control, confidence, and discipline which parents can see the benefits of this program in their children's improved grades in school and more respect for themselves as well as those around them.
Other programs taught by Master Hargis and his team of Certified Black Belt Instructors include evening classes for both juniors and adults, weapons classes, Mixed Martial Arts classes, Dynamic Martial Arts classes which includes students wanting to join the school's demonstration and exhibition team, as well as his Black Belt Club where intermediate and advanced students participate in a Leadership Program while working toward reaching their black belt ranks.
South Knoxville TaeKwonDo International not only teams up with the Knox County School Board's Partners In Education Program which provides support to area schools, but this top rated school is also a proud participant in the Knox County's School Coupon Book program.
A lot has happened over the past five years to help make South Knoxville TaeKwonDo International THE martial arts training facility to support the families of South Knoxville and Seymour area while providing successful top quality after school or evening programs that other businesses in the area are now modeling their OWN programs after!
