Dang-a-lang! $100 to adopt a critter? Ya sure I can read. Shots, spay, chip. Just thinking out loud, won't most people adopt a puppy or kitten from a neighbor for (dare I say) free? A little marketing maybe in order. How about: corporate sponsorships, tie in's with Scouts,H.S. civic groups, adult org's like Masons,Knights of Columbus,Rotary. I think lowering the cost of adoption, getting groups involved etc. would increase the number of animals placed in good homes.

There is no such thing as a free puppy!

If more people would support the animal shelters there would be no need to charge $100. The Miss TN Preteen is having a fundraiser now. I believe you can take blankets, towels, Purina and Science Diet food and cleaning supplies to the Seymour Herald office through October 14th.

I think the cost should include the pets nutering/declawing and or shots.

$100 is not a bad price. It cost me that and didn't include shots for my dogs.
