Sevierville growing fast

Sevierville’s recent announcement of $182 million dollars worth of development, including a new events center, will mean expanded possibilities for group business and unique attractions to entertain groups while there. The developments, some of which are public and some private, include a 200,000 square foot events center and parking facility, a major hotel on-site, a 7,500 square foot planetarium known as “Universe: The Experience” and major retailers, all slated to open in 2006. Other new construction near the site includes a 135,000 square foot Bass Pro Outdoor World scheduled to open in late 2005. Sevierville Group Sales Manager Scott King points out, “The new developments in Sevierville will enable us to market ourselves to large groups-a market segment we’ve never been able to go after before.” The projected expansion in large group business is due to the development of Sevierville’s first large scale, connected hotel and events center. “From school groups to religious markets, the possibilities are endless,” King continues. “And the ability to accommodate those groups will compliment other group favorites,” he adds, referring to existing attractions like the Tennessee Museum of Aviation, NASCAR SpeedPark and Rainforest Adventures.
