Receipts up for lodging, attractions
Gross receipts are in for Pigeon Forge Winterfest 2003-2004, and the East Tennessee destination is celebrating the most successful season in the event’s history.
Pigeon Forge Winterfest most recently took place during a three-and-one-half month period from November 2003 through February 2004. During that period, the city showed a six percent increase in gross revenues over the previous year.
The figure reflects an increase of 188% over the same period 14 years ago, before the first Winterfest.
“We are very proud of this event,” said Kay Powell, assistant director of the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism. “While the entire event was a success, we’re particularly delighted that February 2004 showed an increase of 15% over the previous year. That is the best February we have experienced in the history of Winterfest. I think that’s a testament to the quality of the events that make this an award-winning festival.”
During Winterfest 2003-2204, Pigeon Forge attractions show a six percent increase over the previous year while the city’s lodging industry enjoyed and eight percent increase. When compared to the same four months before Winterfest, amusements revenues have increased 574% while lodging has jumped 508%.
