Smoky Mountain Travelers first adventure to Whitestone Inn is a trip worth attending

Sponsored by the Sevier County Senior Center, The Smoky Mountain Travelers’ first trip of 2003 will be lunch at the beautiful Whitestone Inn on March 6th. The Whitestone Country Inn is a beautiful bed & breakfast located in Kingston, TN and was named from a scripture passage in the book of Revelations. After lunch the group will travel to the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Vonore where they will enjoy a short program and a self-guided tour. The museum traces the Cherokee culture from sacred myths though the Paleo-Indian Period to the European Contact including 18th Century Cherokee and finally the Trail of Tears. They will then meet with a ranger at Fort Loudon State Historic Park, which is located a short distance away. The fort was built in 1756 to block further French penetration into the west and to help ally the Cherokee with the English cause. Reservations for the March 6th trip to Whitestone Inn, Sequoyah Museum and Fort Loudon must be in by February 20.  Reservations can be made by calling Carol Burse at 453-8080 or stopping by the Ft. Sanders Sevier Senior Center. Cost of the trip is $45.  Motor coach seat assignments are made according to the order reservations are received; 30 people must sign up for the trip. Don’t forget to join the Smoky Mountain Travelers for their first Travel Pre-View Party at the new Ft.
