Foothills Bride 2002 showcases bridal fashion at Foothills Mall

Couples preparing to tie the knot gathered Sunday, September 22 at Foothills Mall to participate in the Foothills Bride 2002 Show and check out the latest fashions in trendy formalwear. Gowns were featured from Wedding Expressions and More, and tuxedos from Proffitt’s, Duggan’s Men’s Store, After Hours by Mitchell’s, and Goody’s Formal Wear. Models strutted the latest designs down the runway, and Shawn Roberts, a seventeen-year old senior at William Blount High School, turned out in a perfect white tuxedo for the crowd. Roberts, the son of Bill and Judy Dunlap was one of the few from the high school who was asked, and jumped at the opportunity. “He was excited about doing it” said Bill Dunlap. Tips were also given to couples to help with planning details, with valuable information from various catering establishments on choosing a wedding cake, flowers, and more. One lucky couple also won a free wedding in the “So You’re Ready to Tie the Knot” contest sponsored by the mall. Three couples were chosen from the entrants in the drawing and then asked to compete onstage for a chance to win the prize, which included wedding bands for him and her from Proffitt’s, a wedding cake provided by First Fruits, a wedding gown from Weddings Expressions, Groomsmen tuxedos and two bridesmaid dresses, a reception area at the mall for the couple and their guests to celebrate the occasion including music and food, a mall-wide bridal registry, a honeymoon weekend stay in the Smoky Mountains, and a dove release from Wedding Wings.
