The Tennessee Hospital Association honored 24 individuals and organizations during its 64th annual meeting at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel and Nashville Convention Center last week.
Two recipients of the THA awards are from Sevier County. WSEV-FM in Sevierville received the community service award for radio. Stanley Loggins, facility support and risk management leader for Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center, won the meritorious service award for a department head.
WSEV-FM, nominated by Fort Sanders Sevier, was recognized for its public service efforts for healthcare organizations in the community. The radio station offers frequent public service announcements for health screenings and events such as Covenant HealthCheck, HisHealth, community flu shots. They are also active participants in community activities such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, United Way, and many others. The station also supports and promotes community health initiatives by doing live remotes for local agencies. Morning show hosts Jay Adams and Steve Hartford accepted the award on behalf of the station.
Stanley Loggins was recognized for his 37 years of dedication to the healthcare industry. He is a licensed respiratory therapist and a practical nurse, but currently serves as leader of facility support services at the medical center. He also serves as a consultant to the hospitals in the Covenant Health system in the areas of cardiopulmonary services and safety and risk management.
Loggins has dedicated his career to improving the quality of care provided to patients and the safety and wellbeing of the hospital staff, physicians, volunteers, patients, and visitors. Among his most recent accomplishments was helping to establish an improved relationship among emergency responders, local police and fire departments, and other agencies to develop protocol for emergency preparedness. He has also performed ergonomic evaluations in the hospital and nursing home to improve the work environment and reduce workplace injuries.
“We feel very fortunate to have supporters such as WSEV and Stanley who work tirelessly to improve the welfare of their community,” said Ellen Wilhoit, chief administrative officer for Fort Sanders Sevier. “We are thrilled that they have been honored for their contributions.”
