As a cornerstone for any community, the local newspaper is the true record of the passage of time.

And while many area publications have tried to interject their influence into Seymour, the survival and continual improvement of the Herald is proof of its ranking as Seymour’s true and only community publication.

While larger daily newspapers such as the Knoxville News Sentinel and The Mountain Press stretch their efforts over a large coverage area, the range of their coverage itself creates a situation where precise community topics typically fall to the wayside without an official press releasing backing up the reporting.
