Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals confirmed the Sevier County Inter-Agency Bomb Squad recently met the requirements to retain its certification through the US Department of Justice Hazardous Devices Training Center.
Seals said the Squad is required to renew its accreditation every five years through training of personnel and having the proper response equipment to deal with a hazardous device.
“There is an entire list of equipment that we have to have to be certified,” said Bomb Squad Commander Doug Ogle.
Of the required items a robot and two explosion proof suits rank among others. Ogle said due to regulations from the FBI.
