Although most people think about athletic competitions when coaching is mentioned, a performance coach at Seymour High School was recently recognized for a national honor.
SHS Debate Coach Danielle Smallwood received the Donus Roberts Quad Ruby Coach Award based on a from the National Forensic League.
“I was really excited about winning because I have been a debate and drama coach for about 13 years,” she said. “I am proud of all the hard work the students.”
This recognition comes as she achieves the coaching milestone of 1,000 points during her career. Coaches earn one 10th of a point for each point a student earns in competition.
