The Seymour Lady Eagles basketball team fell short in their first regular season game after the Christmas break as they lost to the Cocke County Lady Roosters 52-42 at Newport.
It was the first IMAC loss of the season for the Lady Eagles (12-7, 5-1 IMAC) as the Lady Roosters (9-8, 5-1 IMAC) never trailed in the second half on their way to the 10 point win.
The first half of the game was very tight and went back and forth but there seemed to be a lack of complete team effort on the part of the Lady Eagles throughout the game compared to their usual fire.
The game was up for grabs until midway into the third quarter when the Lady Roosters had a 12-5 lead and led 36-29 going into the last quarter.
