A land parcel located off of N. Knob Creek in Seymour has caused a considerable rift among residents who fear the development will significantly decrease surrounding property value.
The property, which is about 19 acres, was previously owned by Heartland Development Owner Barry Schular.
Prior to the sale of the undeveloped acreage, Schular had requested the property be rezoned from a R2M to a R2 zone. However, the Sevier County Commission voted the request down twice at the recommendation of Sevier County Planner Jeff Ownby.
Later in the year, the Commission approved a request to have the land zoned to R1.
