In the aftermath of the senseless Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, Sevier County Superintend of schools Dr. Jack Parton shared his concerns regarding the tragedy Dec. 18.

“Our hearts are deeply saddened by the tragic events that took place last Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut,” he said. “Across the United States and in Sevier County, children, teachers, and parents returned to school today with questions and concerns about school safety.”

Parton said the safety of students and employees is of the highest priority for the school system.
