Local retirees are returning to the workforce because many are unable to survive on social security income alone and also want to remain active within the community.
“I could not afford to pay my basic bills with only my social security income and when unexpected expenses occurred my only option was short term loans with high interest rates,” said retired Secret Service agent, George Leith.
Leith added did not have much success finding any job at the age of 68, mostly due to what he understood as a prejudice toward the elderly.
